Allayne Webster

Allayne is a children’s and YA Author. Her list includes PaperPlanes, a Children’s Book Council Notable Book and shortlisted novel for the Adelaide Festival Awards in Literature.

She is the recipient of three South Australian arts grants and a board member of the highly successful Salisbury Writers’ Festival.

Allayne is an experienced presenter, available for author talks, lectures and workshops for children and teens. She also runs workshops for budding adult writers with a particular focus on how to get published, and has presented to university creative writing students.

Allayne is also happy to cater to the host’s wishes. She is comfortable presenting to people from all ages, backgrounds and walks of life.

Lauren Nicolle Taylor

Lauren is a full time author who holds a degree in Health Science with Honours in obstetrics and gynaecology. She has published five internationally bestselling titles, achieved a starred review for her latest book and is currently represented by one of the top literary agencies in the world, The Bent Agency.

She is a 2014 Kindle Book Awards Semi-finalist and a 2015 USA Best Book Awards Finalist.

Lauren can speak on a variety of writing-related topics from character development, finding inspiration, to fun writing exercises for children, to getting published and writing a successful query letter.

She is also happy to tailor a presentation to your specific needs.

Heather Taylor Johnson

Heather is the author of two poetry collections: Exit Wounds and Letters to my Lover from a Small Mountain Town. She is a poetry editor for Wet Ink magazine and reviews poetry for literary journals in Australia and America.

She has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Adelaide.

Heather has a black folder that tells her what journals she is submitting to, which grants and fellowships she is applying for, what she is reviewing, which awards and competitions she wants to enter, a list of events where she will be reading, etc. The 'Business of Writing’ workshop involves this notebook and a discussion of the business of writing.

Kristin Weidenbach

Kristin Weidenbach writes popular non-fiction focused on Australian history. Her picture books for children include King of the Outback: the story of Sidney Kidman, Meet Banjo Paterson and Tom the Outback Mailman, which won the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Eve Pownall award, 2013. She is the author of the adult titles Growing up Moonta, Rock Star: the Story of Reg Sprigg and the Australian bestseller Mailman of the Birdsville Track: the Story of Tom Kruse, which has sold over 100,000 copies since publication in 2003.

Kristin is a PhD immunologist who specialised in forensic science and worked at Stanford University, USA, before switching to a writing career.

Kristin offers talks and workshops on themes such as bringing true stories to life, and the journey from idea to publication, as well as science-focused themes such as DNA fingerprinting, and alternative careers in science.

Sally Heinrich

Sally has illustrated more than twenty books as well as writing and illustrating her own picture books, novels and a series of information and activity books on various Asian countries. Sally’s work has been recognised through fellowships from the Asialink Foundation, The May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust, Varuna – the Writers’ Centre and Arts SA, and her original artwork and lino-prints have been exhibited in Australia and Asia.

Searching for connections and relationships between people, communities, cultures and the environment, and for a sense of place and of belonging, are recurring themes in both her writing and artwork.

Sally offers ‘Meet the Author/Illustrator’ sessions with students of all ages, sharing the process of writing and illustrating picture books. She also offers a range of hands on workshops for both children and adults and is happy to discuss options to suit a particular age or focus.
